Toledo was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive monumental and cultural heritage – and it’s not hard to see why!
The cathedral of Toledo is one of the three 13th-century High Gothic cathedrals in Spain. Construction begun in 1226 under the rule of Ferdinand III and the last Gothic contributions were made in the 15th century.
And as there is a tower, naturally we had to climb up it and get a panoramic view of the city!
There’s a lot of steps involved as you can see!
But you do get stunning views across the city roofscape and across to the Alcazar.
Plus there is a plethora of gilded religious stuff to check out inside too!
The whole of Toledo feels like a perfectly preserved time capsule. With remnants of its rich history to be found on every street corner.
