I came late to the world of the itchy footed but now spend most of my time day dreaming about my next destination.
My random meanderings around the world are contained in this blog.
It’s by no means perfect – it is not always up-to-date, sometimes it’s swamped with posts, other times I forget to fill it in for months on end!!
I am a terrible traveller, I whinge, whine, grump and groan my way around the world.
My friends often wonder why I do it, they joke that I endure holidays, I don’t really like them!
It’s true that I am underbelly of a fish white – and some may conclude almost allergic to sunlight due to my tendency to burn as soon as look at it.
I’m a very picky vegetarian, hence ruling out about 90% of the world’s cuisine and causing endless fun in Japan!
I’m also fairly unfit and have a tendency to be rather anti social on occasion.
I hate crowds, full planes, mosquitoes (though they do so love me) jellyfish (sandfleas too now I know they exist!) coffee, rude people (why do I still go to Italy?), scuba diving, shoals of fish and using squat pan toilets.
So why on earth, you may reasonably ask, do I do it? What is behind my fervent desire to plant my feet across the globe?
It’s hard to pin down to be honest, and if I am REALLY truthful, I often enjoy my travels more when I come home and browse my photos than when I am on them!
However there is a quote that sums it up for me quite succinctly:
“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page”
I’ve been lucky enough to see some incredible sights already, the sun rising at Angkor Wat, sailing down the Saigon River and watching the mist clear at the Taj Mahal.
But there is always more to see. Peru, Russia and America are next on the hit list.
I’m a snap happy traveller and you can see oodles more of my photographs on Flickr here.
