Mamma Mia we’re in for a climb with the next sight seeing stop . . . we’re heading to the tiny chapel of Agios Ioannis Kastri.

Made famous for being the little church in the Abba inspired film Mamma Mia – it’s where the high octane matriarch Donna (played by the ever marvellous Meryl Streep) gets married at the end of the movie.

But heck there’s a lot of steps up .. in real life if a bride tried to run up the steps like Meryl did then she’d probably have an asthma attack . . .

Its name actually means Saint John on the Castle, assuming that there was probably was a small castle in the past to protect the island from pirates and enemy invasions.

Agios Ioannis cove is a small beach that lies adjacent to Agios Ioannis Kastri.

It gets very crowded due to the influx of tourist boats decanting masses of sightseers every hour.

But when the boats depart you get to enjoy this stunning little cove virtually to yourself (at least until the next drop off!)
