Agnontas port

Agnontas is a small village with a port about eight kilometres from Skopolos town.

The port provides an alternative docking place to the main Skopolos harbour if weather is bad.

The harbour is naturally protected from bad weather making it a preferred port for fisherman whose catch can be seen in the water front tavernas.

Agnontas was named after Agnontas or Agnon, a winner of the ancient Olympic games.

Agnon returned to his homeland, Skopelos, after winning at the 568 B.C. Olympic Games in Olympia.
