Portugal’s river beaches

We’ve left the stunning city of Porto and are heading to the Duoro Valley now.

A panoramic view of a sandy beach surrounded by trees, with people enjoying the sun and swimming in the water. In the background, there are hills and houses visible.

But we make a quick pit stop at one of the river beaches that can be found along this meandering stretch of river.

There are are numerous praias fluviais (river beaches) in Portugal especially in the North.

They offer a chance to cool off without the crowds!

A sunny beach scene with people swimming in a river, a cruise ship passing by in the background, and a wooded hillside.
