Paignton

The next town on our Devon explorer is Paignton. Another traditional seaside destination.

Paignton, along with Torquay and Brixham form the borough of Torbay which was created in 1998.

The Torbay area is a holiday destination known as the English Riviera.

Like the rest of the English Riviera, Paignton benefits from a mild climate and sub-tropical palm trees, giving it a little bit of a continental feel.

It’s full of the usual, traditional English seaside attractions including the pier which first opened to the public in 1879.

Away from the garish delights of the assembled super heroes, fruit machines and children’s rides, there is a quaint little town centre to explore too.
