I’m going back to Tenerife for the first time in 24 years. This time I’m avoiding the tourist traps of Playa de les America and seeking out the roads less traveled. We’re starting in Santa Cruz the capital of the island. From here we hop on the tram to visit the UNESCO world heritage cityContinue reading “Tenerife 2022”

Tiny Tabarca
There’s not much in the way of boat trips from Alicante but you can visit the tiny fishing village of Tabarca. So off we float – ready to conquer the waves yet again (PSA there are no waves – it is flat calm) Tabarca is the largest island in the Valencian Community, and the smallestContinue reading “Tiny Tabarca”
Benidorm
It wouldn’t be a visit to the Costa Blanca without at least one trip to the capital of mass tourism that is Benidorm! In 1993 Benidorm town hall officially commemorated the first hundred years of tourism in the town. So although the town is synonymous these days with cheap (some might say tacky) package holidaysContinue reading “Benidorm”
Nudist beach!
While we wait for the old town of Alonissos to wake up, we pop to a nearby beach. This rather disturbing shack proclaims that it is actually a nudist beach!
Leftos Gialos beach
A bit of a grey day on Alonnisos as we visit Leftos Gialos beach. This white-pebble beach 7km northeast of Patitiri has a few summer tavernas and sun loungers and is framed by headlands thick with pine forests.
Alonissos
On to the third of our Greek islands now. The smallest of the three on our island hoping itinerary – Alonissos. There’s lots more pebble beaches to explore plus we quickly stop off at Steni Vala harbour to check out the bobbing boats.
Glifoneri beach
Skopolos has enchanting little beaches and coves around every bend and corner and the tiny Glifoneri beach is no exception. The tiny little cove is at the bottom of a steep hill, with a handful of houses.
Glysteri beach
Glysteri is a stunning spot for a swim and as it’s early we have the place to ourselves for a while! A rocky peninsula leads to a sheltered bay with a pebbled beach backed by white hills and green trees. One of the few northern beaches of Skopelos, Glysteri is located in a small coveContinue reading “Glysteri beach”
Milia beach
Milia is another extremely beautiful beach with glimmering white sand and turquoise waters, ideal for swimming and diving. The long, white sandy shore stretches for nearly a km alongside the enchanting landscape. We end our beach day where we started it at beautiful Panormos beach.
Paralia Kastani
A flying visit next to the Mamma Mia beach – Paralia Kastani. One of the sandiest beaches on Skopolos (as most are shingle or pebble) this crescent of sand had a starring role in the Mamma Mia hit film. Verdant green pine forests tumble down almost to the water while crystal clear waters lap theContinue reading “Paralia Kastani”
