Seaview is possibly one of the prettiest stretches of beach on the Isle of Wight in my opinion so we always have to revisit every time. The colour palette of the water is just incredible, from deepest navy to royal blue, azure and greens. We find a few lost little woolen friends along the beachContinue reading “Seaview”

Beach life
It’s all about the beaches today with a quick nip to the main town of Ryde for some traditional seaside fare – chips in a cone! It’s starting to warm up now so we can shed some layers! We’re heading to the gorgeous little village of Seaview again now, as it is a firm favouriteContinue reading “Beach life”
Back to the island!
Were heading back to the Isle of Wight for another exploration of this tiny but attraction packed island. Here’s the view from the ferry as we head into East Cowes. The sea is a stunning emerald green and the weather is perking up! We’ll be revisiting a few favorite spots as well as discovering someContinue reading “Back to the island!”
Bit more beach
A few more snaps from the wind whipped beach on Hayling Island. The Hayling seafront is primarily a shingle beach with long stretches of sand. You get views of the Solent as well as the Isle of Wight. It’s a blustery day and we’re a little bit buffeted as we walk along the shifting shingleContinue reading “Bit more beach”
Hayling Island
Before we head over the Isle of Wight (again!) we spend a couple of nights on Hayling Island. Hayling Island is an actual little island off the south coast of England that is accessible via a road bridge or ferry. The natural beach is predominantly sandy, but in recent years it has been mechanically toppedContinue reading “Hayling Island”
Darling Dartmouth
Dartmouth is the next seaside town we’re checking out as we dashed around Devon back in 2020. Dartmouth dates back as far as 1147 and you can still find echoes of its rich history as you explore its streets. It has a long and venerable nautical history and even today Dartmouth is of nautical strategicContinue reading “Darling Dartmouth”
Teignmouth
Teignmouth is the next Devon town to tick off our costal careering. Full of bobbing boats under a perfect blue sky. The town sits on the edge of the mouth of River Teign and is packed full of history including Georgian architecture. However my attention is captured by the colourful artwork that adorns many ofContinue reading “Teignmouth”
Paignton
The next town on our Devon explorer is Paignton. Another traditional seaside destination. Paignton, along with Torquay and Brixham form the borough of Torbay which was created in 1998. The Torbay area is a holiday destination known as the English Riviera. Like the rest of the English Riviera, Paignton benefits from a mild climate andContinue reading “Paignton”
Babbacombe beach
East of Torquay lies Babbacombe Beach which is a peaceful arc of shingle beach. In the background you can see Oddicombe beach that you can walk to via a coastal path. We take the sea salt splashed walk over to Oddicombe beach under bright blue skies and when we get there we find an unusualContinue reading “Babbacombe beach”
Weymouth
The pretty harbour town of Weymouth with its long sandy beach is our next stop. Lines of pedalos sit waiting for customers but the biting wind means that there won’t be much call for them today! Weymouth has long been one of the most popular seaside resorts in Britain and King George III was aContinue reading “Weymouth”
